CleanFUEL USA Announces Move and Expansion of Detroit Production Facility
Increase in demand for propane autogas technology boosts need for additional space and employees
GEORGETOWN, Texas –– Sept. 17, 2012 – As partner momentum builds for CleanFUEL USA’s fleet OEM program, the company has upgraded its manufacturing and production facility by moving into a new office space located in Wixom, Mich. It has also hired more than six employees in the past six months and will continue to grow its Detroit team.
The new facility includes a 100 percent increase in square footage, from 5,000 to nearly 10,000 square feet. The configuration of the new facility allows better use of production space, including a dedicated clean room for sensitive component assembly and an expanded prototype shop for developing new designs and systems. The former facility was located in Novi, Michigan.
The company plans to celebrate its move with an open house, which is open to the public, on Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 3 - 6 p.m.
CleanFUEL USA is currently the propane autogas system provider for the GM 6.0 liter, G4500 product and will soon serve as the provider for the
Freightliner Custom Chassis S2G product. The S2G incorporates the GM 8.0 liter engine, developed and integrated by Powertrain Integration, into both a propane delivery truck and Thomas Built school bus.
“Having a presence in the metro Detroit area played a significant role in landing new OEM partners and will facilitate additional partners in the future,” said Wayne Moore, chief operating officer of CleanFUEL USA. “The ability to boast a close working relationship with important suppliers and partners in this area, who continue to support our programs, serves as a key component to our success.”
Propane autogas is the third most widely used transportation fuel globally, behind gasoline and diesel, and is proven to be a more attractive option from an economic and environmental standpoint. As the lowest greenhouse gas emitting fuel, propane autogas averages 40 to 50 percent less than gasoline and diesel per gallon. There are more than 52,000 propane autogas refueling stations and 17 million propane-powered vehicles worldwide.
Additional details about the open house can be found on CleanFUEL USA’s website
here. The company’s headquarters and dispenser manufacturing facilities will remain in Texas.
