CleanFUEL USA Supports Propane People’s Celebration

Autogas Infrastructure Provider Outfits New Autogas Stations in Indiana

GEORGETOWN, Texas –– Oct. 5, 2012 – CleanFUEL USA is playing a role in Propane People’s 10-year anniversary celebration as the Indiana-based company opens its first public autogas station today. CleanFUEL USA provided fuel dispensing equipment for the new station and Propane People expects to install 10 additional stations at other locations across the state of Indiana.

R.W. Mercer and Paul Akers, Inc. also assisted with the installation. Funds for this project were provided by the Department of Energy (DOE) and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), as part of a national effort to establish networks of propane (autogas) refueling stations. Through this effort, the DOE estimates millions of gallons of petroleum will be displaced annually, thereby reducing the country’s dependence on imported petroleum products.

The new station is located at 2848 US Highway 6, Waterloo, Indiana, 46793. Propane People will celebrate the station opening, as well as its 10th anniversary on Friday, Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is open to the public. Industry experts will be on hand from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. to speak on autogas and the impact it continues to make on the industry.

Propane autogas is the third most widely used transportation fuel globally, behind gasoline and diesel, and is proven to be a more attractive option from an economic and environmental standpoint. As the lowest greenhouse gas emitting fuel, propane autogas averages 40 to 50 percent less emissions than gasoline and diesel per gallon. There are more than 52,000 propane autogas refueling stations and 17 million propane-powered vehicles worldwide.

“We are making a difference in the world by helping fleets reduce their environmental impact and giving companies the opportunity to buy alternative fuel manufactured in the U.S.,” said Mark Gibson, owner of Propane People. “We are proud to be one of the first propane autogas fill stations in Northeast Indiana. We have converted 20 vehicles in our own fleet and saved thousands of dollars in fuel costs.”
